There is none finer in all of the prairie than the spider lily. Pure white and striking from across the field, with a fragrance that’s intoxicating when close at hand, the spider lily is the largest and most handsome of all ABNC prairie wildflowers. They were once common in the prairie wetlands and open fields of Pasadena and surrounding area. Now both the open fields and wildflowers are mostly gone. You can enjoy them (but please don’t pick) along the nature center entry road. Many of those lilies were grown in the ABNC Native Plant Nursery and used for prairie habitat restoration (and your enjoyment).
