Location

Site #1 is located at Clear Lake Park, on Mud Lake. When facing upstream this sign is on the right (all sign locations will be given assuming that the boater is facing upstream). In the background is Clear Lake Park

Habitat and Features

This site is located at a multi-use park: boating (canoeing, kayaking, sculling, and winsurfing), fishing, picnic area, exploring, playground, ball fields, indoor facilities, and a museum. Part of this shoreline has a bulkhead to control erosion along a heavily used bank. Most of the park is mowed. In areas without heavy traffic the shore is natural.

Flora and Fauna

Since this area is a heavily used park, there is a lower diversity of plants and animals in this area of Armand Bayou compared to the other sites. Much of the park is mowed park, so there is reduced space for natural plants. Near the south and north ends of the park there are areas of native vegetation, wading birds (e.g. great blue herons) can be seen in these areas.
