ABNC Employment Opportunities

The Armand Bayou Nature Center is home to a diverse and talented staff. ABNC hires a combination of permanent, temporary and seasonal staff to fill a variety of administrative, educational, and interpretive programming needs.

The Armand Bayou Nature Center offers a casual working environment, attracts friendly, dedicated professionals, and supports individual career development. Permanent staff turnover is typically low; though our needs continue to evolve as ABNC programming grows. As permanent positions become available, we will announce them here.

Restoration Internship

The main focus of this internship will be prairie restoration through invasive species removal. As the summer progresses, interns will gain experience in plant identification and propagation, wetland restoration, and wildlife monitoring. Interns will also assist Stewardship Technician with supervision of volunteer work crews.

Two volunteer part-time positions are available, each to begin late May-early June 2008 and ending in late August 2008 (starting and end dates are flexible). We expect each position to be about 20-25 hours per week, with great flexibility of work days. Here is your chance to help preserve one of the gems of the Texas Gulf coast. Qualifications:
  • Must have completed at least one year of college in the field of natural resource science and management, botany, wildlife ecology, or related field
  • Able to maintain a positive attitude in the presence of extreme heat, humidity, and mosquitoes
  • Proven ability to work safely
  • Flexible, able to work in pairs or in a team setting, with a wide variety of people
