Winter Camp
- Winter camp is a three day experience for Pre-K through eighth grade
- The classes are during the holiday school break
- Campers will participate in exploration, survival activities, science and art in an outdoor learning environment
- Prices for classes range from $80 - $180 depending on type and length of class. As always, members are discounted

Learn about baby animals that live at Armand Bayou Nature Center. Find out what they are called and why some look like their mommy’s and daddy’s while others look different.

Winter Wonderland
Explore the pond, prairie and forest in the quiet of winter. What sounds, shapes and colors are unique at this time of the year? See live animals and hike the trails. A prairie hayride shows the beauty of the grasses in the winter.

K-2nd Grades
True Texans
Learn about our state plants and animals and meet some Texas natives. Campers immerse themselves in games and farm activities of the 1800’s reliving early settler life on the prairie.

Winter Wings
Do you ever wonder why birds sing, build nests and come in so many sizes and colors? Learn the answer to all of these questions and more, while you go birding and identify our feathered friends migrating south.

Cold Blooded Critters
Do snakes sleep? Are lizards slimy? Each day our reptile friends go about their business, mostly unnoticed, keeping the ecosystem in balance. This class will get campers familiar with the cold-blooded creatures of the Nature Center and learn how they survive.

Masters of Disguise
Why are some animals so hard to find while others are so brightly colored? Learn how animals use their coloring and patterns as protection from would be predators. Go fishing in a pond and sweep netting in the prairie to take a closer look at these animals adaptations.

Junior Naturalist
Become a junior naturalist by developing the skills to observe and identify plants and animals in their natural habitat. Study live animals, enjoy fishing, canoeing and hiking as you discover the wonders of outdoors.

Outrageous Reptiles
Search for alligators, snakes, turtle shells, and lizards. What is truth and what is myth about these fascinating creatures? Find the answers to this and more as you meet our reptile residents.

6-8th Grades
Survival of the Fittest
Survive in the wild! If fishing, canoeing, and basic survival skills sound like something you would enjoy, come and explore the Nature Center in the winter as we get close to the land. Learn compass work, shelter building, cooking and food gathering as you work as a team to tackle nature in the rough.

Wild Winter Discoveries
Explore the unique ecosystems of the Nature Center in winter. Investigate how soil, plants, light, animals and water interact to make an ecosystem. Visit the prairie, pond, forest and bayou by hiking, sweep netting, and more.
