Stewardship Service Projects
Looking for a way to put your love of nature into practice? Come to Armand Bayou Nature Center and help our stewardship team! Pot plants, make seed balls, or plant grasses as part of a prairie restoration project. Pick up litter, tend "water smart" gardens, or restore marshland. Projects will vary according to the time of year and needs of the nature center. Volunteers and staff will work side-by-side with your group and will explain how your efforts might impact the center's ecosystems.
Stewardship service projects are open to students in eighth grade and above. Many groups choose to complete a stewardship project in conjunction with one of the field trip classes. Please see the field trip planner for more information about scheduling a field trip. (If you wish to enroll in a class, call 281-474-2551 x 13 for class dates or to enroll.) Contact either the stewardship (281-474-2551 x 15) or education (281-474-2551 x 13) department for more information about service projects.
A 10-to-1 ratio of students to adults is required for all field trips, including stewardship projects. Participants should bring bag lunches that they can eat onsite. They should also expect to get wet and/or dirty and should bring a change of clothes!
