Bison Platform

Located just north of the Martyn Farm, the Bison Platform provides an 'over the fence' view of our bison. Here you will have an unobstructed view of the bison, rolling, running, jumping or grazing.

Bison were once abundant on the Gulf Coast. Fossilized bison bones found near Armand Bayou indicate bison were in this area 35,000 years ago. Now the only bison along the Gulf Coast are in nature preserves or ranches.

There are times when the bison need to seek out a quiet area. For this reason, our bison enclosure is "L" shaped with the back pasture blocked by trees and brush. This provides an area for the bison to rest, out of the public view.
